I am thankful for the trials God gives me to bear
For through them I see Jesus more clearly than before
And understand His sufferings a little more
For such a wretch like me He died; then rose again!
In agony He suffered, to save my wicked soul
My trials bring me closer to the God I love
Though pain may pierce my heart, my joy does overflow
If life were merely roses I fear I’d leave His side
Trusting in myself instead of Him, falling from His grace
Oh misery of miseries this would truly be
Instead much tribulation, He allows me to endure
I feel so broken; He makes me whole
Hardships make me cling more dearly to Him
And increase my faith by folds
Purified by fiery trials, I will come forth as gold
My troubles may be many but His burden is light
In my weakness He shows His perfect strength
I struggle to survive in this cold dark world
But through His blood I’ll overcome
And someday go to my heavenly home
A place with mansions and streets of gold
There He’ll wipe away my tears and my pain remove
Forever with Him to enjoy His glory evermore
Saints clothed in raiment oh so white and with crowns adorned
Along with angels shining bright, singing praises to His name
