Not Worthy of This World

A reflection on the severe persecutions and martyrdom of saints across the world.

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. 2 Corinthians 8-12

Evil men pursue your flock,
Imagining victory.
They will not stand
Like chaff they’re blown away.
What is man in the face of Almighty God?
By grace the righteous abide.
Hallowed be thy name!

Blood is on their hands;
O Heavenly Father please forgive them.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done.
Your people Lord,
Your people suffer at their hands.
Great is their sin, yet grace is greater;
I pray it may abound.

Saints not worthy of this world,
Bodies destroyed,
Yet souls unmarred,
Safe in the hands of their Savior.
Taking their crosses, they followed you.
Their lives they regarded not
Because they’d found life in you.
